CSM COUGARS: BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPIONS
After winning the 9th UCAA Season basketball championship in September last year, CSM's varsity team---the Cougars---won again, this time, as champions in the 18th NCRAA Season.
Emerging from the elimination round with just one loss, the Cougars disposed the Olivarez College Sea Lions in a hard-fought semis and proceeded to defeat the Rizal Technological College Blue Thunder in their best-of-3 finals which culminated in an electrifying 89-85 win during the rubbermatch. Aside from capturing the much-coveted NCRAA title, the Cougars also take pride in the selection of John David Orbeta, their team captain, as the league's Most Valuable Player. MVP Orbeta was also chosen into the Mythical Five together with team mates Daniel Flores and Jessie Saitanan and two players from RTU.
Chairman of the Board Melvin C. Madrid was all praises for the Cougars for their excellent performance and he also lauded the coaching staff led by head coach Yong Garcia for steering the team to a scintillating victory.
